The 2007 OLD HOUSE FAIR a great success, despite the weather....

Neither snow nor sleet nor dark of night.....could deter the 2007 OLD HOUSE FAIR!

Preservationists proved that they are indeed a dedicated and hardy lot, when, despite unusually inclement weather that blanketed the area in inches of sleet, over 500 people turned out on Saturday, March 17th for the 2007 Old House Fair at the Germantown Friends School. By mid-day the fair was bustling with people and was clearly a well-received and successful event.

Those who made their way to the one day event found it had a lot to offer. Attendees had the opportunity to visit the nearly 50 vendor booths; receive free consultations from a variety of preservation professionals at the Ask the Experts table; sit in on a number of useful presentations, and to see hands on demonstrations by a number of artisans and trades persons. One of the highlights of the day was the presentation of the Alliance's new "Awards of Recognition" to 8 homeowners from across Philadelphia who completed outstanding restoration and renovation projects on their homes.

The Alliance is grateful to the Old House Fair sponsors: Historic Germantown Preserved Milner + Carr Conservation, Andrew Palewski, Tague Lumber and TD Banknorth. We also extend special thanks to the Germantown Friends School, the participating vendors, and all of the many volunteers who helped to plan and carry out the event.

Plans are already underway for the 2008 Old House Fair. If you are interested in information about being a sponsor, vendor, or volunteer, please contact Patrick Hauck, Director of Neighborhood at 215.546.1146 x4 or patrick@preservationalliance.com.
