Significance:
Fairmount Park's only statue dedicated to blacks, the monument features 12 military figures and commemorates the black Pennsylvania soldiers who fought in American wars. It was erected in 1934 on Lansdowne Drive, east of Belmont Avenue, and later moved to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in 1994. The monument is now located on the west side of Logan Square, at 19th Street and the Parkway.
