Address:
4008 Locust St.
Philadelphia, PA 19104

Significance:
Founded in 1833, the Mount Pisgah Church congregation was one of the earliest offshoots from "Mother" Bethel (see entry). According to Cooperman, the congregation's first home was a frame building on the south side of Locust Street just west of Till Street (now 40th Street). The first building was replaced by a brick structure before the 1880s. In 1942, the congregation moved to 428 N. 41st Street (see entry), and the former church property was subsequently purchased by the University of Pennsylvania.
