The Preservation Alliance Easement Program

Easement Program   The Alliance's easement program has been employed throughout the Philadelphia region since 1979 to preserve historically certified properties and residences such as the Drake Tower in Center City, the Alden Park Apartments in Mt. Airy, an Oskar Stonorov modernist house in Chester County, and 190+ other historic properties.

The current and all future owners of a property protected by an Alliance preservation easement promise not to demolish or inappropriately alter, and to maintain the historic character of the property.  In most cases, all exterior elevations of a historic structure are protected, but in certain instances, historic interior spaces and landscapes associated with the property can also be protected.

In most cases, donations of historic easements qualify as charitable contributions deductible from federal income tax. For additional information about this program, please contact Randy Cotton, director of the program at 215-546-1146 x 2, or at randy@preservationalliance.com
